It was August of 2001. The Yankee and I were in Mississippi. This was our first extended trip together. We stayed at a lovely hotel in Ocean Springs, Mississippi called, Paradise Hotel. Any place with him is paradise, but this made it official.

On our last night together, we went to the Grand Casino in Biloxi for a Little River Band Concert.

Time always passes much too quickly when we are together, and I was keenly aware that the next night, I would fall asleep alone, and not in his arms. Everything that had become so familiar over the past 5 days would fade into the past.

Listening to Little River Band sing this song on our last night, as a warm breeze blew in from the ocean, I reached for his hand.

Life is a dance, and he was the ONLY man I wanted to dance through it with.

Once back at the hotel,the knowledge that this was the last night hung heavy in the air. I saw it in his eyes like he saw it in mine. The whole trip together had been perfect. Right from the start we settled in with each other. There was no adjustment period or ackwardness. Us being together was as natural as breathing.

With a Best Of Journey CD playing in the background, it seemed we kissed longer,deeper and held each other tighter than ever before.A thousand, I love you's were whispered between us as time marched forward.

We made love for hours, and I do mean HOURS, but, that was really nothing new with us. We get totally lost in one another and in the moment and before you know it,what started with a kiss before getting ready to go out for dinner, ends 4 hours later, causing us to miss the dinner buffet at the Grand.

I fell asleep in his arms around 5 am. My last thought before giving in to much needed sleep was: If I could only stop time and capture this moment and stay forever in his arms.

I couldn't. And before I knew it, check out time had arrived. But, this song, always takes me back to that night in Mississippi and the man that I love with each and every fiber of my being.

Sad to note that Kartrina destoyed not only Paradise Hotel in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, but Ocean Springs. We had often talked about going back one day.That will only be possible in memories.

Yesterday was the perfect day for a Nascar race. The atmosphere on race day is exciting. Look up in the stands and you see RED. Talladega is EARNDARDT country.

In the fall race last year, Dale Jr was leading the pack on the final lap with the checkered flag in sight, when Vickers knocked him and Jimmy(cry baby) Johnson out to win it for himself. Vickers didn't qualify for yesterday's race.

A chorus of boo's and hisses fills the air when Jeffy comes by. On the other hand, when Dale Jr started making his move to the front, the crowd went wild. When he took the lead, the cheers eclipsed the roar of the cars.

In case you haven't heard, Jeffy(WhineBox) Gordon, won under yellow. Passing the late Dale Earnhardt's wins on what would have been his 58th birthday.

The fans had been cautioned NOT to throw anything on the track after the race. Dale Jr even urged his fans, that if you had to throw something, throw toilet tissue.

A few people were still upset that just 7 days earlier, Jeffy had tied Earnhardt's record of wins. After the race, while holding a black, number 3 flag out the window, he took a victory lap.
Some of the Earnhardt faithfull took offense to that and felt Jeffy had stepped way out of bounds. It is no secret that I can't stand Jeffy, but I actually thought that was a pretty classy thing to do.

So, my day at Talladega didn't turn out like I had hoped. As we left the stands, boos and hisses (and other names that I don't care to repeat) were filling the air.

Jeff Gordon wins at Talladega and beer cans fell on Alabama.
