Since I started therapy, a lot of things have changed. My therapist told me on the very first session:
"There will be good days. There will be bad days."
Okay, that I can deal with, and so far the good days have out numbered the bad.
Yesterday, had something for everyone.
The Good: Spending time with The Yankee
The Bad: The past and present collide, intertwine, and become one, leaving me in the midst of a cyclone of raw emotion, that leads us right into.......THE CRAZY.
I could feel the panic attack welling up inside me. If I could only get back to my physical comfort zone, I reasoned that I would be alright.
I don't remember getting on the interstate, but I do remember a blue light in the rear view mirror, belonging to one of Alabama's finest.
BUSTED!
I pull over, roll down the window and dig for my license.
Trooper: Ma'am, I clocked you going 91 MPH.
Belle: How is that possible? This car only goes to 85?
Trooper: (Takes off his sunglasses, looks, smiles) You are "Super Trooper's" Mother in law.
Belle: Yes.
Trooper: Okay. Never mind. But SLOW DOWN!
10 minutes later, mind still racing, heart pounding, I was certain that if I did not get off of this interstate, I would have a heart attack. My exit is finally in sight and mild relief comes over me. Until......blue light special in the rear view. Again!
I pull over, roll down the window, dig for my license.
County Deputy: Do you know how fast you were going?
Belle: No. But I'm sure you are going to tell me.
County Deputy: (laughing) I know you. You are "Princess" mother.
Belle: Yeah.
County Deputy: You really need to slow down.
Belle: Shouldn't you be stopping people with Georgia tags? Do you see how they hold
up traffic by driving in the left lane?
County Deputy: Yeah. But that would be a full time job.
Belle: Are you going to give me a ticket?
County Deputy: Well, no. I don't guess so, if you promise me that you'll slow down. Deal?
Belle: Deal. And, just out of curiosity, how fast was I going this time?
County Deputy: 83.....Wait....what do you mean this time?
Belle: Oh, nothing. It's just that a State Trooper stopped me about 10 miles down the
road going 91.
County Deputy: What...? When....?
Belle: Oh, a few minutes ago.
County Deputy: I may have to rethink this.
Belle: Okay. While you are rethinking, think about the 3 layer coconut cake that I
have at home.
County Deputy: Is that the same kind you used to make and bring to school?
Belle: Yes.
County Deputy: That's my favorite.
Belle: I remember.
County Deputy: So, if I drop by your house, that cake will be there. Right?
Belle: Yes. But not for long, because it will be going home with you.
County Deputy: I get off at 5.
Belle: See you then.
County Deputy: SLOW DOWN.
He didn't come back at 5, because of an accident. So, I called him this morning and told him to swing by here an pick it up. Which he did.
As it turns out, I DIDN'T feel better once back inside my comfort zone. But at least I didn't get a ticket.
I like what Whit said in a comment on my other blog, and I have his permission to quote him:
"Keep looking forward to tomorrow while living to the fullest today"
Later Ya'll...^Belle^
