I want your opinion on something that a friend and I discussed at length this evening. We have very different views on the matter.

Do actions speak louder than words or do you disreguard the actions and believe the words?

I personally think there are some people in this world that you have to take everything they say with a grain of salt, and see if the actions back up the words.Just wondering how others might feel on the subject.

For those of you that might be wondering how the shopping trip with Princess and the Grands went...We manged to survive with only 1 very mild hissy fit (mine).

I HATE fruitcake, but found this recipe last year, and it sounded interesting so I gave it a try. Talk about easy...and yummy! The best part, NO BAKING REQUIRED!

NO BAKE FRUITCAKE

1 lb. pkg. vanilla wafers

1 lb. shelled pecans

1 lb. raisins

1 lb. candied cherries

1 can Eagle Brand milk

1 lb. shelled English walnuts

1 lb. dates

1 can coconut (3 1/2 oz.)

1 lb. candied pineapple

1 lb. pkg. marshmallows

Crush vanilla wafers. Cut candied pineapple into small pieces. Leave other fruit and nuts whole. Mix all ingredients except milk and marshmallows.

Melt marshmallows in milk. Add to other ingredients. Mix well. Pack into buttered angel food cake pan or into small loaf pans. When cool, remove from pans and wrap in wax paper. Store covered in wax paper. Store covered at room temperature.

Another very simple and easy recipe was nabbed from Rachael Ray. No one will ever guess that this fudge wreath was so simple to make. And pretty! Below is a photo of the one I made last year. 10 minutes after this photo was taken, half of it was gone.

1 bag semisweet chocolate morsels (12 ounces)

9 ounces butterscotch morsels (3/4 of a 12 ounce bag)

1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can or package of walnut halves (8 ounces)

1/2 cup currants (a couple handfuls)

8-inch cake pan, lightly greased with softened butter

Candied red and green cherries, for garnish (optional)

(I didn't use butterscotch in mine, I used all chocolate)

Preparation

Place a heavy pot on the stove and pre-heat it over low heat. Add chocolate and butterscotch morsels and milk and stir until morsels are melted and milk is combined. Save the empty condensed milk can. Stir in vanilla and remove fudge from heat. Add nuts and currants and stir in immediately.

Cover empty condensed milk can with plastic wrap and center it in the greased cake pan, spoon fudge mix around the can. Make the holly berries, using red and green cherries. Cut the red cherries in half, cut the green ones in 4 pieces. Put one cherry half, cut side down, and use the green cherries for the leaves.
